get your baby to latch in 3 easy steps
Getting your baby to latch properly can seem tricky at first, but with a few simple steps, you'll both get the hang of it in no time! A good latch is essential for comfortable breastfeeding and ensures your baby is getting enough milk.
In this blog, we’ll walk you through three easy steps to help you and your little one find the perfect latch and make feeding time smooth and enjoyable.
step 1
Position yourself and your baby tummy to tummy, aligning their nose with your nipple to encourage him or her to open up wide toward the nipple.
step 2
Pull your baby close so that the chin and lower jaw moves into your breast first.
Step 3
Watch the lower lip and aim it as far from the base of the nipple as possible, so the baby takes a large mouthful of breast.
You’ve got this! With a little practice and patience, getting your baby to latch will soon feel like second nature. Remember, every mom and baby are different, so don’t hesitate to try a few different techniques until you find what works best for you.
